  1. Rated 5 out of 5

    Nalini Cogswell – December 23, 2021

My daughter and I decided to celebrate the Solstice with this Herb Walk – even though it was raining, we did as reminded and wore our jackets and boots and brought along umbrellas so we could enjoy the delightful presence of the teachers Allison and Jessica, the lovely vibe of the other students, and most especially, our local herbs, from chickweed to yellow dock, nettles, hawthorn, mallow, plantain, poison hemlock (and of course, dandelion!). It was a great tour, full of knowledge and the opportunity to have hands on exposure to the plants – not to mention the tea we made from our sample harvest. These new directors of DHC are both lovely people and powerful teachers of traditional herbal medicine.

What a sweet and grounding way to begin Solstice morning! Allison and Jessica led us on a tour of Redwood Roots Farm after a few songs and offering of hot tea. We learned about a good number of the plant devas that were out to greet us some wild, some cultivated, including their medicinal uses, nutritional value and how these beauties sit in the hearts of Jessica and Allison. Of course there were more songs, making Yule bundles and more tea. Thank you!

This was a wonderful winter solstice gathering! It was so much fun sloshing around in the rain at the beautiful Redwood roots Farm with Allison and Jessica and everyone else. A sweet ritual crafting Yule bundles, tended and prepared for us.
I am excited for the future of Dandelion Herbal Center under their guidance and loving hands and hearts.

80 women. If each generation is about 25 years ap 80 women.

If each generation is about 25 years apart, there are only 80 moms between you and your ancestor who walked this earth, tending children, in the year zero.

That’s not very many, right?! I imagine my lineage of moms and am so curious about them.

This photo is of my beloved Grandma Sandra (right) her sister (Joan) and their mom, my Great Grandma Fanny.

Sandra was a “Dispenser” in England in the late 30’s/early 40’s, which was really like being a licensed Herbalist!

I love them and am so grateful for all my 80 women have been through to get me and mine here! Reflecting on this as my eldest celebrates is 10th trip around the sun today. 🎂☀️🎉

🌟 Do you know the name of your grandmother’s grandmother?
