Wildflower Round-Up

We’ve been to the forest, to the mountains, to the coast — and just right out our back door — to enjoy the beautiful wildflower blooms that are bursting forth everywhere we look! Here’s a round-up of some of our favorites from the month of March.

Scroll to the bottom to see a most unusual Trillium!

Bigleaf Maple (Acer macrophyllum) | Soapberry Family (Sapindaceae)

Fairy-slipper (Calypso bulbosa) | Orchid Family (Orchidaceae)

Red-flowering Currant (Ribes sanguineum) | Gooseberry Family (Grossulariaceae)

The lovely Jane Bothwell with Lomatium sp. (Lomatium sp.) | Carrot Family (Apiaceae)

Western Heart’s Ease Violet (Viola ocellata) | Violet Family (Violaceae)

Warroir’s Plume (Pedicularis densiflora) | Broomrape Family (Orobanchaceae)

Modesty (Whipplea modesta) | Hydrangea Family (Hydrangeaceae)

Coastal Willow (Salix hookeriana) | Willow Family (Salicaceae)

California Fetid Adderstongue (Scoliopius bigelovii) | Lily Family (Liliaceae)

Slender Wild Oats (Avena barbata) | Grass Family (Poaceae)

Columbia Manzanita (Arctostaphylos columbiana) | Heath Family (Ericaceae)

Redwood Sorrel (Oxalis oregana) | Woodsorrel Family (Oxalidaceae)

Pacific Trillium (Trillium ovatum) right out the back door | Bunchflower Family (Melanthiaceae)… and another with variegated sepals!

These are lovely. I live in the mountain area of the US , but used to live in Central coastal California, so these are like visiting old and new friends. thanks. Khatara
